I just felt that there are just too many errors in this piece by Darrel that I had to comment.

Then after the break United took control, Ryan Giggs (who had been losing every ball) threads a dreamy pass through and Rooney runs onto it, only to be brought down by Almunia. Stonewall penalty. Complete stress on Wayne and he scores it.

I will say that everyone was probably on "20" closing down and hard tackling, EVEN Arsenal. So much for fair play.

So you're implying United are also on 20 closing down? 22 fouls by United and 16 by Arsenal. Look at that yourself, the statistics don't lie. So much for fair play. And that doesn't include the 2 fouls by Fletcher on Arshavin, first the challenge and then the handball.

This was exemplified by Eboue's ultimate contribution to fair play: A blatant dive that should go on Failblog. What a failure. Eboue just runs and runs and...does nothing. Pass master.And well, if Arsenal are going to complain that the referee was biased well, Eboue should have been sent off for that fail dive, Eduardo should be banned and well, Arsenal should shut up a bit. That's how not to get so many cards. Same old Arsenal, always cheating. I think that was the most blatant dive I've ever seen. Bloody hell.

First, Eboue dived, yes. He got punished, yes. So, what's up? I'll tell you, United players getting no cards for fouling. Diving is a yellow card offence, and he rightly got the yellow card. If you think he should get a sending off, please just go read the rulebook again. I'm sure you're not a new fan here. Eduardo should be banned? Refer to the previous post. Arsenal should shut up a bit? 2 words: Media Discourse. If you watched some highlights on the web you would have noticed the obvious "Sit down you Paedophile" chants aimed at Arsene. United fans should shut up, and then get a lifetime ban from the stadium. perhaps points deducted, even. Same old Arsenal, always cheating? Look at your fucking Cristiano Ronaldo and Rooney. Which Arsenal player has a reputation for diving, except perhaps that bit-part player called Eboue? The most blatant dive? Don't even get me started on Ronaldo.

Alright so after that there was lots of crap going around, bodies thrown around, Arsene bringing on a diver to pair with the newly-christened one.

As I said, media discourse. Rooney dives, is he a diver? Apparently not.

Somewhere near the end, Van Persie then hit the freaking crossbar with a free kick which IN ALL HONESTY, I think the Brilliant Foster definitely had covered. He had a glove on the crossbar for pete's sake, no way that was going in.

Yes its not going in, but get your facts right, this happened before Diaby scored.

And Arsene got sent off at the very end. Funny stuff.

As reports have shown by now, that was 1 minute wasted as Keith Hackett decided that the decision to send Arsene to the stands were absurd and offered an apology. How about offering us a point?

IT'S OKAY TO CHEAT (WHEN ITS THE ENGLISH)

This is just an article I saw in the Mail today; one of the best pieces in the Mail. A leading English paper.

What a muddle of hypocrisy football is. We see only what we want to see. One man's cheat is another man's match-winner and the rulebook is merely a code of conduct by which the other team must abide.

Everybody is involved: You, me, each manager, every player, the eternally muddled UEFA and its conflicted chief Michel Platini. We're hypocrites, the lot of us. We see everything but the failings of our own.

Just look at how events will unfold at Old Trafford on Saturday evening in the first big Premier League clash of the season. Arsenal's Eduardo will be jeered and abused from the moment he appears because he's a 'diver and a cheat'.

It won't matter if Nemanja Vidic boots him over the advertising hoardings, the little Croatia striker will be accused of play-acting and conning the referee throughout 'because that's what he does'.

Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, will enter the stadium a hero. The vast majority of the crowd at Old Trafford won't care he dived to earn the penalty that ended Arsenal's 49-match unbeaten run in 2004. Nobody remembers his tumbles against Blackburn, Spurs or Villarreal, either.

The same contradictions will be evident when Michael Owen trots out. Surely this is a player who has been involved in many more diving controversies than Eduardo? Ah, but he's an English diver. He also reserves his best work for when England play Argentina. So that's all right then.

Perhaps it's a misconception, but it seems that whenever a player from England throws himself to the floor it's because he's 'being clever' or 'anticipating contact'.

If Steven Gerrard tries one of his trademark clumsy falls in the 18-yard box, commentators say he's 'simulating a foul'. When Joe Cole arches his back and tumbles over nothing much he's 'looking for the free-kick'. The condemnation never extends beyond banal expressions of 'he'll be a little disappointed with himself there', before Martin, Lee or Alan explains 'we don't like to see that, but it's a part of the game now'.

The accusation is that the media go easy on English cheats and instinctively vilify foreign culprits. After the events of this past week, you might find a few more managers agreeing with Arsene Wenger's conspiracy theories.

Judging by the hostility of the coverage you might also be forgiven for believing Eduardo had actually invented the dive. UEFA appear to think so, as they have now opened an almighty can of worms by threatening to impose a two-match ban on the player for throwing himself to the ground against Celtic.

He wasn't even the only player who took a deliberate fall this week. I laughed out loud when I saw Everton's Tony Hibbert launch himself into the air against Burnley in an attempt to win a penalty. The difference was his crime wasn't on live television, the papers didn't make a big deal out of it, and he's English.

I laughed again when I heard Everton manager David Moyes say yesterday: 'For me, if they want to clean up the game, they should get rid of diving. That's the biggest problem in the game'.

OK, David. Go ahead. Forget what 'they' do. You start.

Look, I don't have any sympathy for Eduardo. He cheated. I'd quite happily see every player hauled up for simulating contact all season. But good luck to UEFA with that idea. If they follow their new tough stance through to its logical conclusion, the Champions League is certainly going to look very different this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo should collect enough diving bans to earn himself an entire gap year at Real Madrid. Barcelona captain Carles Puyol and his new colleague Zlatan Ibrahimovic routinely spend so much time rolling around for no discernible reason they might as well retire now, while Chelsea's Didier Drogba may have to consider an entirely new career as a Denise Lewis lookalike.

UEFA claim they are basing the Eduardo charge on Article 10, paragraph 1c of their regulations which deals with 'acting with the obvious intent to cause any match official to make an incorrect decision.' What? Have they just found that law? Did someone new on the staff read the rulebook on their summer holiday?

Every single game is littered with incidents where players try to con the referee and UEFA do absolutely nothing. Tell me what happens now when a player appeals for a throw-in even though his team-mate has clearly touched the ball? Is that going to mean a two-match ban?

The reality is referees have to control a dysfunctional circus of sneaks and petty cheats who expend vast amounts of energy and time shirt-pulling, elbowing, complaining, time-wasting, edging the ball forward at a free kick, stealing five yards at a throw and doing just about everything possible to 'cause the match official to make an incorrect decision'.

Are they all going to be banned? Will there be anyone left? Even the president of European football's governing body, Platini, admits he used to dive and deceive referees.

If this were the first move in a wholesale purge; if UEFA actually had the nerve to set up a video panel to clean up the game, I'd be cheering them all the way.

But do you really believe they would dare upset the powerhouses of Europe, or tackle indiscipline on such a grand scale?

We all know UEFA will eventually back down. They always do. This is a feeble bout of sabre rattling in response to some lurid headlines and nothing will come of it.

There is, of course, a simple solution, one so effective UEFA would never need to meddle in a club's affairs ever again.

But sadly, I have yet to hear of a single manager ever punishing one of his own players for diving or conning a referee.

I have never heard supporters demand an individual in their team should be fired because he cheated to win a vital match.

But that's where we came in. That rulebook is something for the other team to abide by.

There's just something with it. We played so fucking well, and yet lost. The stats are fairly even. But Arsenal dominated the game, with Ferguson opting for a tactic that devoid themselves of attacking options, however it stifles the midfield trio that proved so successful. Once the penalty was given, I just knew it. Someway, somehow, the game was going to be handed to United.

EDUARDO

I just felt surprised at the Eduardo charge. I typed this out last night and i'll just post it here as a consolidation to my thoughts.

Eduardo won a penalty in the game against Celtic on Tuesday. Now most football fans know that what happens after a apparebt dive is simple. He's a diver, people cry. Then nothing. People forget about the incident.

However, Eduardo got a different treatment. He's facing charges for a 2 match ban. A few things show a clear lack of standards by UEFA.

Firstly, was it even a dive? Video footage proves inconclusive. I reserve my comments; i haven't seen the footage from all possible angles. However, from what i've seen so far, it does look dubious to be honest. That's not to say Eduardo dived. He came to England with a fair reputation, broke his fucking leg within 2 months of breaking into the first team and went through such emotional stress before returning to play at the top level. If you see a keeper rushing towards you, of course you'll try to dodge. You can't tell for sure whether there was contact with the keeper's right hand so he might or might not have dived. For me personally, i feel that only those people who fall over, AND throw their arms into the air, demanding a penalty from the ref when there was no contact, that's a dive. Eduardo might have dived or took a tumble, but he never muttered a word of protest to the ref. He just lay down on the grass.

Secondly, and while this might not be an ethically correct point to make, let's face it, we were going to win the tie, penalty or no penalty. This makes the 'dive' insignificant, it wasn't the decider of a world cup final. Arsenal were cruising. Come on, 2 shots on target over the 2 legs, one of them being the last minute goal by Celtic? You got to be kidding me.

From now on i'll make comments from the point of view that Eduardo did dive. You know, as everyone except Arsene thinks so.

Of course we all know that diving is a yellow card offence during the game. Now, how does that, through the misjudgement of a referee, quadruple to a 2 match suspension? You got to explain that. What justification is there, for Martin Taylor, the guy who broke Eduardo's foot, get away with a 3 match ban for potentially ending a sportsmen's career with people stating that 'oh, he's a good guy, he didn't mean that', and for Eduardo to get a 2 match suspension with people stating that 'he should get a longer ban' when his offence wasn't even clear, and this offence, if committed, is a first time offence? Oh right, Martin Taylor is English. You know that the English have xenophobia.

Plus, there are many other confirmed cases of diving, Drogba, Gerrard, Ronaldo, or even Eboue, that went 'unnoticed'. Why the double standards, FIFA? Is it wrong for foreigners to beat one at its own game?

For Eduardo to get banned, FIFA will need to show some god damned balls and ban everyone who dives, not just those that are considered to be weak and alienated. Show your balls, FIFA, ban Gerrard for diving, ban Ronaldo for diving. So, ban the rest for their deserved punishment, and we'll get on with life.

Now i must make this very clear that i'm not minding a bit the absence of Eduardo in the next 2 champions league games. Standard Leige away and Olympiakos at home? By then Rosicky will be back, Nasri, Fabregas and Walcott will be back as well. With a strike force that comprise van Persie, Bendtner, Rosicky, Arshavin, Nasri, Walcott, will Eduardo's apparent ban affect us that significantly? Taking into account our other options and our opponents, with all due respect, i say no.

If Eduardo gets banned, so be it. But one thing must be ensured. Ban all, ALL other divers, ban all the cheating cunts, ban all these fuckers like Gerrard and Drogba.

UEFA and FIFA, you have been warned by Arsene. Its things like this that screws you over, and a European Super League in 10 years time suddenly doesn't seem so far-fetched after all.

PRE-SEASON PREDICTIONS

Just felt like taking a break from MRP and I guess this is the best way to have a record of what I thought of before the start of season 09/10.

I'm gonna try dissecting Arsene's pre-season formation. He said that the team against Valencia would give the strongest indication of what formation he would adopt for the coming season and he lined up with a 4-3-3, similar to what Barcelona had been using, except with a defensivce twist.

For the backline its almost the same as last season; Arsene still likes his wing-backs charging forward to support the attack. Of course with Toure gone the responsibility of leading the backline falls to Gallas, and while he isn't the best leader he does possess good defending skills. I haven't seen Vermaelen play sicne his signing, except for a few snippets of highlights as there's no live coverage and online streams simply can't make it. He seems really good at tackling and heading, something like a Djourou perhaps, with slighty better technique but less pace. Of course he's left footed like Gallas if i remember correctly; a future partnership of Djourou and Vermaelen perhaps?

Central Midfield is the place were the most changes were made. I've tried using Arsene's formation in PES and FM09, it looks really really good. I think the crux of this formation is the intelligent late runs into the box from the central midfield and diagonal runs towards the penalty box from the 2 wingers. There's so much movement that there's bound to be a gap opening up sooner or later. With both Denilson and Song in the line-up, stability is achieved on the defensive side of things. Fabregas plays a little higher up, spraying passes left and right. The midfielders will keep the ball, probably playing with a slower tempo than last year; possession football as always. Arshavin, Walcott, Nasri and Rosicky will play on the wings on a rotating basis (there will be injuries, inevitably). Of course Nasri and Rosicky can fit well into the 'Fabregas role' in the formation. With so much movement the stamina and overall pace of the game will be compromised but then again, Arsene has so many options in attack so that probably solves that question. Notice that Vela, Wilshere and several other youngsters are still to be mentioned.

van Persie and Eduardo will be the main strikers and link-up players in this formation. Bendtner provides cover in any attacking role when necessary. Astonishingly Bendtner is like a key player for my team. He holds up play well, and can accurately finds passes to allow other players a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He isn't the best in the striking department, no doubt, but I think he will do well in an AMC position. Adebayor, what's his use actually?

So, my predictions for this coming season would be:

Carling Cup: Quarter-finalists with our U-10 team.
FA Cup: Winners if Arsene sticks to the first team in this competition.
Champions League: Semi-finalists.
Premier League: 3rd.

Which would be a decent season overall.

The last time Arsenal got a draw in Spain, Arsenal went all the way to the Final, only to lose to Barcelona. The last time Porto drew at Old Trafford, Porto dumped United out of the UCL and bagged the greatest honour of European football. Hmm, will history repeat itself (partly)? I'd love for United to go out, gives us an easier passage to the final. No offence to Porto.

Another medical appointment today. Seems like the infection is still somewhat stable and won't "explode" anytime soon. Thus, the decision is to wait till further observations can be made, and the operation was cancelled. Doctors say it might be due to a bout of HFMD that i suffered 3-4 weeks ago. Hmm.

Like what the fuck. I went for an MRI last.. Wednesday. The cost was $960.61, or somewhere thereabouts. Today, I went for a CT scan. 5 minutes. $300 upwards. Not that I'm complaining; the machines are expensive, but... ah well.

There's another doctor's appointment scheduled to be next Monday. Will be missing Math and IHC again. Hopefully there are good news this time.

GALLAS GOAL v HULL

This blog is probably dead, but for some reason, more than 7 days after the game, people including Phil Brown is still talking about the "goal". Many people are also asking me about it, as I'm probably one of the few Arsenal supporters. So blogging this will save me a lot of time.

First, the rules of offside.

A player is in an offside position if he is in his opponents' half of the field and is nearer to his opponents' goal line than the ball, and all but one of his opponents. A player level with the second to last opponent is not in an offside position. So, basically Gallas, having been closer to the goal line than any of the Hull defence when Djourou/Myhill touched the ball, was in a offside position.

However, the debate is about whether Gallas was active when the ball touched Myhill/Djourou. So, the rules are: A player in an offside position is only committing an offside offence if, in the opinion of the referee, he is involved in active play "at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team." A player is not committing an offside offence if the player receives the ball directly from a throw-in, goal kick or corner kick, or if the player receiving the ball is level with or behind the player passing.

Interfering with play means touching the ball passed or touched by a teammate.
Interfering with an opponent means preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent's line of vision or movements or making a gesture or movement which, in the opinion of the referee, deceives or distracts an opponent.
Gaining an advantage by being in an offside position includes playing a ball that rebounds to the player off a post or crossbar or playing a ball that rebounds to the player off an opponent having been in an offside position.

So, Gallas was gaining an advantage by being in an offside position as he played "a ball that rebounds to the player off an opponent having been in an offside position."

As replays suggested, the ball touched both Djourou and Myhill on the way to Gallas. Therefore, he, technically, is offside.

But one important point is this: in the opinion of the referee. Everything is in the opinion of the referee. Referee's decision is final. You can challenge a red card, a ban, a yellow card. But you can't challenge a goal.

Verdict: Gallas was offside, but in the record books, Gallas scored a perfectly legitimate goal.

Hull might nag over this for a long time to come, but whatever they say, the maximum they can get is: a highly unlike apology from the referee, and Phil Brown getting a fine and touchline ban for the stuff he said. Like how Fabregas (did not) spit at his assistant.

This is how football is played. You get some decisions your way, you don't get other decisions your way. Frankly, the assistant denied Arsenal a definitely legitimate goal by Bendtner just seconds after Gallas scored.

If one complains that, "Hull were sending players forwards when Arsenal scored their "third goal". " Then, how do you think Arsenal felt when the referees gave 2 dubious penalties over two legs in last year's quarter-final clash against Pool? What Arsenal lost on that night was a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League. What Hull lost was a place in the semis. Seriously, do you think Hull, even if they got past Arsenal, would beat Chelsea and either Everton and Man Utd to lift the trophy?

This is football. Just get over it and try again next year. If not, Phil Brown, you can always retire as a sad, pathetic, cunt.

Van Der Sar, Lauren, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Ronaldo, Vieira, Carrick, Pires, Henry, Rooney.

For me, I would go for a 4-3-3 instead.

GK: Van Der Sar. No disputes here. Fucking Dutch with hack in every single football game.
WBs: Lauren, Evra. Not being bias but Lauren was great. I'd put Cole if he wasn't such a cunt.
CBs: Toure, Vidic. Big-Small combination. Unlike Gallas/Toure. Fuck.
CMs: Vieira, Carrick, Scholes. I think he's been very quiet this season but I'm beginning to see why Darrel hails him. Vieira was almost an automatic choice for me. I've always rated Scholes.
STs: Henry, Ronaldo, Rooney. Devastating combo. Seriously. I tried on pes2009.

Half time at White Hart Lane, 0-0. It seems like referees are picking on Arsenal this season. I don't remember, even once, when Arsenal when on the lucky end of, say, a dubious penalty decision, or a controversial sending off. However, I agree that Eboue deserves a yellow card for that trip on Modric, but do not understand his first yellow. 10 man now, hoping for a win

I know Arsene can produce a masterstroke of a team talk at half time.

We got striking options on the bench; Vela, Eduardo, Arshavin, all of whom I know can make an impact, on their day.

I know Bendtner and van Persie, on their day, have the quality to score 2, 3 or even 4 against Sp*rs. I'm just hoping today is their day.

SHIT PERFORMANCE MASKED BY VAN PERSIE

I woke up at 4 fucking a.m. to watch Arsenal, hoping for a 3-1 or 3-2 entertainer. What I got was bullshit. I mean, 2 shots off target from Denilson in the entire first half? What was that?

I think Arsenal resembled a mid-table side going to a stadium where they know that they're gonna be up for a big fight. Classy for the first ten minutes only; Everton dominated the rest of the half. Sounds like a West Brom or Hull going to OT or Emirates.

If I remember correctly (it was 4am), both keepers did not have to save a single shot the entire game, apart from a Cahill drive that was straight at Almunia. van Persie's goal was virtually our only decent attempt at Everton's goal. But it was still a great goal.

I think it was Baines who passed it for Cahill to head home. Denilson isn't a right winger, and should never be one. He and Sagna both tracked Pienaar/Arteta, allowing Pienaar/Arteta to play a reverse pass to Baines, who have all the time in the world to cross it. Cahill is a good header-er thing, so why isn't Djourou (remember, the only reason he's in the team is cause of his height and physical presence) marking him? The player that challenged him was Clichy. He is the one who stands at the post at every corner, and stays back at every attacking corner/free kick. Why? Because he is not a header-er guy. So, our defence is still in shambles. Get someone in, quick.

And by the way Joshua, Performace does not equals goals scored.

HIKING COSTS

Recently, I was forced by my parents to go hiking, takes about 2 hours each time, including transportation. That amounts to 4 hours per week during school terms, and 8 hours per week during the vacations. That's fucked. Seriously. And, i don't see any teenagers, or kids even, hiking. All are middle-aged men / women. So, today I will evaluate the costs that my father has paid for this "obsession" of his.

1. Buying of MIZUNO hiking shirts. Again, I don't see the point. He bought easily 30 at one go. each one at a discounted price of $10. (FYI: It has been on offer since the middle of last year, and it still is on offer.) That's $300. 3 each for relatives (yes, he roped in my cousins, regardless of gender), and 2 for his friends. However, only 2 of his friends hike on a regular basis (3 or more times a week). Which makes buying these shirts kinda pointless.

2. Daily travelling costs. I'm in no position to put a cost on this, but travelling 20-30 minutes 5 times a week (he hikes himself most of the time) seems kinda costly.

3. He bought a hiking stick. At. Ninety. Dollars. My Math isn't my strongest subject but ninety dollars is a little too steep.

Okay, time for football.

Normally I would not post during the holidays because of me trying out many new games and such. However, a very debatable peice by Darrel has. well, caused a debate and I'll have to have my say on it. Let's do an analysis of his peice.

This part, I have nothing much to argue about. Berbatov's a cunt. However I do have to state that he is a quality player that creates space from the most congested of pitches. What Fergie is trying to do here is to forge an understanding between Berbatov and Rooney. Their styles compliment each other, in a different way other than Rooney-Tevez. Rooney is the runner, chasing down balls and closing down defenders, while Berbatov is the somewhat lazier one, relying on his technique to create openings for his team mate. His finishing is an added bonus, which was not present against Celtic, or Arsenal. Something like a Kanu-Defoe partnership in my opinion. In a greater scale, obviously.

Over the weekend, most matches were broadcasted, as expected. However, the match involving Sunderland and Arsenal was not. At the Stadium of Light, Sunderland's home ground, it was probably going to be a great game to watch. With Arsenal licking wounds from a 2-1 defeat at home to Hull and fresh from a 4-0 triumph against Porto, Arsenal was sure go all out to prove that they are still title contenders. Sunderland, on the other hand, are under Roy Keane who wants to prove that he has the qualities of a top manager.

Keane has just announced that he will not attempt to play a defensive and rough formation, making the game all the more interesting.

With all due respect to Wigan and West Brom, I think Arsenal is a more exciting and better side to watch. I think most Singaporeans would prefer Arsenal to, say, Fulham.

Football Channel promised 3 channels for footballing broadcasts. Channel 27 was used for Wigan vs Middlesbrough, while 22 was for West Brom and Fulham. If there was the problem of not enough channels being open, channel 21 was always there. A status of "No transmission" was given for the channel.

I sat through 45 minutes of the Wigan vs Middlesborough and it wasn't as interesting as it promised to be. At halftime, the highlights for the Arsenal match was not shown. A quick run through the program for the next few days showed no broadcasts of the Sunderland-Arsenal game.

The football channel was supposed to provide better service than the then-ESPN provider. However, even after each of us forked out that extra money every month for the football channel, it has not lived up to its expectations.

Once again, why wasn't a match involving one of the "top 4" teams not broadcasted?

I'll just say it in the face. Hull was better and Arsenal. Serious. I was worried about Hull at first. You know, all the new surprising tactics of the new boys. We'd comfortably whack them on a usual day, but as it was, we were on an off day. Well our attack was on an off day. Our defence seemed normal. Conceding goals from set-peices, not closing down as such. We're all used to it. Refer to my post on Senderos as a remedy. Toure can't be blamed. Gallas is shit. Time for a player analysis.

Nothing to do, can't do anything about any of the goals.

Off day for him. Lost his stamina in the second half.

Tried to conjure something for the team, going up for free kicks (with the taker) and stuff. Gallas really fucked him up. Which leads to my next point.

3 games, 3 mistakes and 3 goals? I'm starting to wonder why Arsene sticks with him. No one listens to his team talks, rallies , anything. He can't defend, he can't attack, oh fuck what can he do? He can't mark players. He doesn't try to mark at all.

ARSENAL;BAYERN PREVAIL

Perhaps this weekends' results were overshadowed by the transfer dealings, but as always Arsenal does not sign anyone at all so I took time looking at scores. Well, here are the results of the top 8 teams in the UCL.

Man United did not even wait till the weekend for their loss. It happened on Friday night and they lost to Zenit. Chelsea and Liverpool both put in toothless perfomances against Sp*rs and Villa respectively and both should be content with a point. Arsenal, and I say this without a hint of bias, were the only convincing team of the top 4 in England. Seriously.

Next on the Spain. Madrid lost to Deportivo and Barca lost 1-0 to a newly promoted side. Not that well for UCL contenders.

Italy? Inter only managed a 1-1 draw while Milan lost 2-1 to another newly promoted side. At the San Siro. Nice one, Ancelotti. Juventus drew too.

How about Scotland? Rangers beat Celtic 4-2. Rangers of course are out of the UCL after losing to a team of Lithuanians cunts. Too bad.

Over at Germany Werder Bremen lost 3-2 while Bayern won.

IN THE DEFENCE OF SENDEROS

I'm a fan of Senderos. I know many of them Arsenal fans are not, and I strongly think that they're all Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. And wrong.

Now that Senderos is going to AC Milan, I suddenly felt very very bad. Our squad is getting thinner by the minute. Senderos was wronged. I mean, it is quite clear that Senderos did not fail us. The management is the one that has failed Senderos. He has limitless potential. Why is it such that he is moving to AC Milan (who has pursued him for over 2 years) rather than the likes of Birmingham, or Sunderland? Arsene Wenger has really baffled me here. You did not sign any player as cover for Flamini or Gilberto, prefering to rely on Denilson and Eboue (?!) instead. Fair enough, the lad's young but at least has that little bit of potential in him. (I'm talking about Denilson and strictly Denilson ONLY)

I know I've been protective of Eboue but I don't really get how Wenger adopts the "die die must play Eboue" attitude. There are lots of midfielders that could have filled the central midfield role on Saturday. Eboue, from right-back converted to right midfield, and then to central midfield? What is the manager thinking?
But why would Wenger break up successful partnerships time and time again? We know the right choice is always fielding the in-form player. That's what happened with Flamini and guess what happened? The young one has gone for free, and the experienced Gilberto who was unhappy at being left on the bench, also went. Diarra, who was unhappy at the competition for places also went.

Let's face the fact. All of our defenders, maybe with the exception of Djourou and Song (the latter can be a very good defender today and become a very good midfielder tomorrow. I wonder what's happening.) , play in the same playing style, which is to sit back, let the opponent get the ball, before tackling them on the ground. This has often failed, resulting in the massive amount of goals that we have conceded all along. Senderos offers a more direct approach. He challenges for long balls (which ironically has been pointed out by Wenger as our weakness to sides like Bolton or Reading), he is never afraid to go into a tackle and of course there's his height and physique. I haven't looked at any facts but I'm sure he's at least 5 cm taller than Toure or Gallas. The Senderos-any other random Arsenal defender has the makings of a successful defensive combination parallel to the likes of Adams-Keown or Campbell-Toure. One would challenge for the high balls and the other would pick up after him.

Wenger might be great at attacking football, but I have enough proof to suggest that he has no clue about defensive football. All the defensive lengends - Adams or Campbell - were inherited from George Graham or brought in by Keown (who was working with the club until 2007). None of them was Wenger-nurtured. One just needs to look at the likes of our squad to know this.

Gallas, Sagna - brought in

Toure - good, but not a natural defender (played AM before converting)

Clichy - Great at attacking but average at defending

Djourou, Song, Traore, Gibbs etc - inexperienced

Eboue - What can I say?

Now, Senderos had made plenty of contributions to the Arsenal side. Let's wind the clock back, say, 5 years.

2003 - Senderos debut season. You can't expect too much.

2004 through 2006 - Senderos has always been able deputy to Campbell. Especially in 2006 when Campbell was injured (think 'that' 3-2 loss to West Ham) He filled in well. More than well., he was better than Sol. He helped the side reach the UCL final (with that record of 10 games without conceding a goal). Then what did Wenger do? Straight away drop Senderos and bring Campbell back into the side. Then? Ended up the wrong side of a 2-1 reverse. AC Milan reveals their interest.

2007 - When it looked like Senderos could finally get his chances after a promising 4 seasons (he and Toure had been given the traditional shirt numbers for first-choice defenders, 6 & 5 respectively), Wenger brought in Gallas as part of an exchange that saw Cole go the other way. He gave Gallas the armband and that cemented his place in the starting XI. There was never a chance of Wenger dropping Toure too. While the first few weeks was ok, the next few months (and might I suggest years) proved otherwise. It was becoming obvious that the Toure-Gallas partnership would not work and Wenger did not do anything.

2008 - Senderos finally gets his chance when Toure leaves on ACN duty. He performed very very well and Toure just walked straight back into the team after Ivory Coast crashed out of the ACN. Tough luck. Performed well against AC Milan at the San Siro in that 2-0 victory too.

Fact: Senderos works well with any of our Centre backs.

One single mistake in the Liverpool game and now Arsenal fans are calling for Senderos' head. Hyypia was more than 10 years his senior and obviously more experienced. Put them together and chances are the 33 year old will win. Torres was a sensation and not even John Terry could have stopped him. (1-1 2007/2008). Some people talked about Drogba but at that point in time even the likes of Ferdinand could not stop him. And obviously Toure / Gallas could not do any better. Drogba is all about muscle and only Senderos could match that. Next on to set-peices. Senderos height would prove a big advantage.

Another point about Senderos. His age. He is merely in his early 20s. What was John Terry or Ferdinand like when they were Senderos' age? I'm pretty sure that they were making mistakes and learning from them too. Senderos should really be given a chance.
On the point about William Gallas. His signing shows us just what Senderos is in the eyes of Wenger. He'd rather sign a full-back and play him in the centre, make him captian than give him a chance. We all can't deny the fact that Jose Mourinho has a brilliant coaching mind. What he has seen in training has convinced him that he was no centre-back. And then he shifted to the full-back position. Then, Arsene stepped in and gave him a centre-back spot in possibly the worst pairing in the big 4.
Xavier Rivoire had written a biography about Wenger and in it reveals the fact that Senderos was considered for captiancy after Viera left. After Theirry left, he was again considered. Why? Because he had the qualities to. Senderos was big and strong and could shout orders around the pitch. Giving him the armband would boost his confidence and make him a better player.

Speaking about confidence Senderos would surely have lost confidence after numerous overlooking by Wenger and then he makes one or two mistakes and everyone starts to criticise him. Now he'd be extremely low on confidence. But I feel that he could only get better and the likes of Juventus and Milan chasing his signature is just more proof of what potential Senderos has.

Now I'm seriously considering the option of playing AC Milan in PES more often then Arsenal. For the first time in 6 years, I have started to lose confidence in Arsene. I have genuine fear that Arsene might have taken the wrong step in signing Silvestre, and the motto "In Arsene We Trust" is starting to collapse. Arsene might just have led Arsenal to the maximum of his capabilities, and now Arsenal is concerned more about finances that silverware.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

Had nothing much to do overall, and seems like his positioning can be improved with regards to the first goal.

3. Sagna 7/10

Consistent going forward trying to get crosses in for an Arsenal equaliser. Quality crosses too. Easily our best player in the second half.

5. Toure 6.5/10

Generally marshalled well. Did not let Zamora in behind him and during the one time that Zamora turned Toure inside out, he made a very good recovery tackle. Positioning was suspect during corners as well.

10. Gallas 6/10

Great job in shutting down the Fulham attack but was at direct fault for the Fulham goal. Not captian's material, surely.

22. Clichy 6/10

Was impressive in the first 20 minutes or so, before becoming sloppy and giving away the ball cheaply in our own half. Not convincing from then on.

14. Walcott 5.5/10

Could not do anything given Fulham's tight marking and anti-football antics.

15. Denilson 4/10

Started decently but from 30 minutes onwards, all (and i mean all) his passes were going astray and he kept losing posession that his team mates worked hard to get. You don't fucking lie on the ground and give a smile after you lose possession in the centre of the park and 5 of your team mates are in the opponent's penalty box (left Clichy and Gallas defending) and its 10 minutes till the end of the game and you're losing 1-0.

27. Eboue 5/10

Tried to create openings but once and for all, he's a right-back.

8. Nasri 6/10

There was noticable effort, but that's not enough if you want to win trophys at this level of football. Crosses were easily picked up by Shwarzer.

11. van Persie 5.5/10

Very, very disappointing game from van Persie. Missed 3 free kicks in great areas and also a glit-edged chance created by Nasri early in the game.

25. Adebayor 6/10

As usual, finishing was wayward. Had a shot off the crossbar though.

SUB: 26. Bendtner 5/10

Late sub, could not do much, was marked off the field.

SUB: 17. Song Billong 5.5/10

Good in defense, but tried unsuccessfully for glory in the last minute of injury time.

Disappointing. We were genuinely outclassed and outpassed. More of we sucked than they rocked.

Not awe-inspiring but it'll do. Especially for Nasri. Fatest debut goal in the history of Arsenal. Nasri started the move, passing it to Bendtner who gave it to Clichy. He slipped it onto Denilson's path and his cut back got converted by Nasri. Not bad. Not a sign of things to come though. Adebayor had better improve his finishing.

Now picture this. Darrel and I had earlier decided that we would go to watch a lit movie to earn ACE points. It was scheduled for 1.45pm on Tuesday.

Tuesday, 1pm: As we were dismissed from the Auditorium, I asked him if he was still going and he said yes. Okay. So far so good. Then, he disappeared.

1.30pm: I had just finished my lunch and saw a missed call from Darrel on my phone. I called him back about 4 times, and he didn't pick up. Thus I let the phone run on auto-redialling so as to make sure he knows that I'm looking for him. Then he picks his phone up, and started talking. I heard it (phone auto-redialling, loudspeaker) and picked my phone up and started to talk. But all I heard was: "EH HOW TO END CALL?" From a place a distance away from the speaker of his phone. Before I could do anything he ended the call. I tried to call again but his phone was off.

1.40pm: I went down to the canteen first before the soccer court to look for Darrel, as it was apparent that he did not want to go and watch the movie anymore. I found him at the soccer courts and I said, "Eh darrel you dun wan go movie liao ah?" To which he replied, "Yes, later." I told him, "It is at 1.45 la, 5 mins more only." Then he gives me a pissed look at says, "Its at 230 la." I called his name a few more times, 3 to be exact. These were ignored. I was sitting beside Benjamin(the short one, not the high-socks one) at this point in time. Of course by then I was given the feeling that he wanted to play football and didn't want to watch the movie anymore.

1.45pm: I found out that Werty didn't want to watch the movie either. Thus I made plans to go home, since no one was watching.

2pm: Darrel stops playing football and tells me that he wanted to go and watch the movie now. Of course I had made plans to go home and made my mind not to go for it. He started scolding me and telling me that I had earlier told him that I wanted to go. He still insists that it starts at 230pm. I told him that I had checked the EMB in class before that and I am very sure it starts at 1.45pm. He still insisted and only started to believe me when everyone around him starting telling him its at 1.45pm. He wanted to rush to the LT4 now. It was already 2pm and he was sweaty all over. Furthermore I had already made my decision to go home.

Darrel started to give me a supposedly scary face before walking to the other side of the court, mumbling something beneath his breath.

Now I don't think I'm in much of the wrong here.

Key battles on the pitch include James Morrison v Gael Clichy. Morrison is a good player. He seems a little bit like Ashley Young and given Clichy's vulnerability at the back this would be an interesting battle. Gallas should comfortably deal with Luke Moore. And I think Barnett should just roll over and play dead in case Adebayor kills him.

TWENTE; CANING FOR DIRTYING CLASS?

FC Twente tonight. Our squad looking kind of shit right now. Toure, Senderos and Fabregas has been added to our injury list of Nasri. Of course that is excluding those who live in the hospital (Rosicky, Bischoff and Eduardo). Our XI for tomorrow will look something like:

Adebayor van Persie

I'd rather rest van Persie for the second leg though. I mean there's not much that he can do and the risk of being injured is very very high. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd think that smaller teams tend to injure our players more. With all due respect I think that the likes of Vela, Bendtner or Eboue would be enough to deal with Twente. I think I would give Hoyte a run out as well. Save Bacary for the Premier League.

New policy. Demento #1 caught a few of the classmates playing corridor football. Me and Darrel were just eating our snacks and the Demento#1 came. Great. Then he comes into the class and sees a temporarily knocked-down dustbin. Straightaway, "Caning for all of you tomorrow. 2 for those playing football and those on duty today (includes me). 1 for the rest. I will send for an external painting company to paint the walls. the costs are a few thousand dollars. I don't know and don't care how you will pay for this."

Lets point out the unfairness in this punishment.
1)Duties are supposed to be done after school, so isn't it just right for the people who are supposed to do duty a day ago to be punished?
2)It was in the middle of reccess. Are we supposed to spend the whole 40minutes sitting in class and staring at those few in class to make sure that they throw their plastic bags properly?
3)All along, the teacher only required those who are assigned to sweeping the floor to do their duties. So is it fair to those 10 / 28 people who actually did their duties?
4)All along, only me and Darrel cleared the locker tops. That's because we're sitting right next to it and thus the teacher ordered us to clear it regularly. Is this a case of do more good, get more punishment?
5)For the football part, 2N has been playing there since the start of the year. 2O only started since around like a few weeks ago. And how can you expect 4 young schooling boys to come up with a thousand plus each?

Then Demento#2 and #3 were called into the crime scene. After slamming the whole class, they left and we were supposed to do reflections. In my most honest opinion I feel that the caning will anger the students even more. Really.

Demento#4 then came after dismissal. After some interrogation he decided that the class will be put under probation for 1 month before deciding on the final punishment, on account that 2 photos of the classroom will be sent to Dementos #1, #2 and #3 every day.

I've got an MC that is valid for the rest of the year. I wonder if I should use it.

2 DEFEATS; APOLOGY; PARTY?

Firstly it was 2O against 1O where we were roughed off the field into a 2-0 loss. This is supposed to be a friendly, isn't it? Then how come 4/5 of our players left the field injured? Why was everyone, except the keeper, injured? Enough said.

Secondly it was an eye-opener for me at the inter-primary school softball final. It was Maris Stella against the heavily favoured Macpherson. My brother turned up for Maris Stella. It was fucked I tell you, fucked. One glance and you could see who the winners were. Macpherson's players were all 1.7m to 1.8m. Some of them were even taller than me. Softball was 9v9, and the shortest of Macpherson's players were one head taller than the tallest of Maris Stella players. They were apparently from some middle east country and are 15 years old now. That ain't fair. And the umpire was a little bit bias. Maybe because Macpherson Secondary School's playres were taller than him.

Second point about the technique. You could see the technique of our players. For each throw they were spinning like fuck and throwing the ball with great accuracy and considerably good speed. The Macpherson's players were fucking big and thus was able to hit the ball super far. Super far that they could get around like 4 home runs even after we stationed 4 players like around 5 metres outside of the 6-yard box.. Maris Stella couldn't do anything. Half their size. Then when it was Macpherson's time to pitch, they were just tossing it very very softly and they packed all 9 players in the diamond box thingy. Our players were small, could not hit the ball far and they could just catch the ball easily. My brother was more wide than high and so he managed one home run + 3 "assists". (1 player each at 1st, 2nd and 3rd bases). Too bad. Well the most valuable player of the tournament was from Maris Stella and the most improvement award went to my brother so I guess it was not all that bad.

For the amusing stuff, it was the Macpherson players putting their gloves (oh right the Macpherson's players had gloves but we didn't) in their ass pockets after their turn to bat. Wow. Then its like flapping around whenever they try to run. The umpire was trying to protect his dick from the throw of the softball. Imagine one guy doing the horse stance (Ma Bu) of wushu, turning slightly to his right and covering his dick with both hands. Ha.

Apologies to BT. Well it wasn;t entirely my idea to screw the private server up. Chun was like "Quick summon zakum!" Then I was the one that typed it in.

Then there was soft of a party at my house today. It was supposed to be only 3 people: LJ, Werty and Darrel. But in the end Tim, Chun, Bralee, Kai , Shinyand Meng decided to tag along and LJ was like: Hey you guys not going to do work ah? Then i go home now". Hmm nerd? Just a suggestion though. Had fun with PS3 with COD4 and PES2009.

RANTS; FC TWENTE; EMIRATES CUP; AMAURI; CHUN

Firstly, I'm going to add a section in the column to the right. It will be called "wierd rules" which takes place in my home. Apparently, they include msn = computer gaming. Up by Monday hopefully.

The draw for the UCL 3rd qualifying round is up. Arsenal are facing FC Twente, managed by former Middlesborough manager, Steve McClaren. The one that screwed England out of Euro08. Other appetising draws include Schalke vs Atlético. I've got to back Atlético on this one. Barca and Pool are also required to play the 3rd qualifying match so its not going to be boring at all.

Arsene Wenger surpised many yet again by signing another injury prone player, Amauri Bischoff. Bischoff is considered pretty old to me, 21 years. So far, he has played a grand total of 16 minutes from his ex-club Werder Bremen, in a single substitute appearence. Wenger has also revealed that he, too, thought that Amauri was a gamble but he was on a bosman free transfer anyway. As Arseblogs suggests, maybe he was bought to help other established player like Rosicky, Eduardo or van Persie recover from injuries faster. For exmaple, he may be a bad joker. That way, Rosicky would not want to spend so long in the treatment room with Bischoff and thus recover from injuries faster. Brilliant plan.

Emirates cup is starting this weekend, with 4 teams playing 2 games each. If I remember correctly from last year each win is worth 3 points, each draw is worth 1 point. But here's the catch. For each goal you score, you get an extra 1 point. Not sure whether that's capped though. Hopefully not. Our guests are Real Madrid, Juventus and Hamburger SV. I think its at 9:30pm and 11:30pm. Arsenal's games are both the later one. Looking forward to it.

At about 10:30a.m. this morning my friend Chun attempted a front volley. (think van Persie v Charlton). Of course, van Persie's goal took a lot of technique and Chun being a teenager can't deliver that. The ball ended up on the other side of the fence. But Chun being the nice, kind and responsible young man he always was, he look the liberty to climb over the fence to retrieve the ball, successfully. Then he decided to throw it from the other side to the football field side. It got stuck in a tree. In the end, we still managed to get the ball back, but without racking some people's minds for 30 minutes. Of course I couldn't help; I'm injured.

11TH REASON; ARSENAL FRIENDLY

Arsenal will have their first "real" friendly tonight. Stuttgart. First real opponent, with all due respect to Bergenland and a team that has a mountainous kind of name. We won these matches 10-2 and 2-0 respectively with our youth squad so with all due respect i don't feel they are anymore than warmup games.

I have just cancelled my Science tuition tomorrow because of AMC, and this is what he replied me. At 03:17 am

Hey zhi xin, i just finish my lesson and saw yr message. I got to make it very clear, and i hope you understand, tat sucj last min changes are really unacceptable to me. Every1 is having prelims now but i have made it a point tat u would not miss yr lesson. The previous few weeks you also last min got all sorts of activities and disrupted my whole schedule. Now tat i fixed everything wat you want me to do between 6 to 8plus tml ar? How do i slot in someone now? I got to be honest with you, i am not saying whether its yr fault or not, but if you have such last min events or you cant find out well in advance, i dont think yr tuition is really suitable for me. Maybe some of my frens who have more flexible schedule will be more suitable candidates.

Well, you just want that $75 x 2.25 = $200. Every week I lose $400. Not at all a good deal. I guess.

10 REASONS WHY I SHOULD STOP TUITION

General information: one to one tuition, at my house.

1. He's always late. Usually by 15 minutes to half an hour, and once even an hour.

2. He charges way over the odds. $75/hour is not an attractive price.

3. He is always busy. No matter how hard i try to postpone/bring forward his tuition, I can't.

4. He never turns his mobile phone on. He only uses a pager and thus i can't contact him first-hand.

5. He likes to change the topic during the lesson. "Hey Zhixin did you hear the news about the guy jumping down from 20-storeys yesterday?" or "Hey Zhixin is Alexander a first name or a surname? My other tuition student...."

6. He, as far as i can remember, spends about an average of 15 minutes a week in the washroom. Supposedly shitting.

7. Always asking for more. My ideal tuition was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours per lesson, once or up to twice per week. He wanted to teach 3 hours per lesson, 2 times a week. Then now its at a concensus at 2 1/4 hours per lesson, 2 lessons per week. I think its a scam.

7b. Never giving a break. No matter what the circumstance, he would still want to give tuition. During the holidays, he still wants to come for tuition at the same frequency. I know of 2 other students that lied that they are going on holiday to cancel his tuition.

8. Over-complication of topics. For example, the school teaches "The apple is falling." He will teach me "The red and tasty apple is falling at a speed of 2m per second." Yes, i learn a little more, but he has to come for way more tuition lessons.

9. His many interests. He wants to borrow my science worksheets to go home and see what topics he needs to teach me. Fair enough. But him being a Chinese and Maths teacher as well, he borrows my Chinese and Maths worksheets as well. Furthermore, he says that he wants to know a bit of Malay. And so he takes my Malay worksheet home as well. Wow.

10. Not able to teach all Sciences. He told me that he can only teach Chemistry and Physics at upper secondary level. Then what happens during the Bio term?

One packet of instant noodles goes for 30-50cents each at a supermarket/wholesale. These noodles comes in stocks of 30 big packets that consists of 5 small packets of noodles each. After cooking, the amount of bowls that can be served is 3. If class 2O decided to buy one stock of noodles and sell them at $1 per bowl, how much does 2O earn?

Recently I have received a lot of criticism about Arsenal. Of course I am pissed with that but I cant do anything about it. Chelsea has won the league like, twice. So what's a hundred-plus years devided by 2? Of course Manure did better but Liverpool are still undoubtedly the best team in the country if and only if you count in the club's history. But I'm quite all right with Pool fans since Pool don't win anything anyway. So here's an article written by ArseneHollis. I do not fully agree with his views but as long as it'll shut you guys up, I'll post it. And no Joshua, I will not stop supporting Arsenal. Once a Gooner, always a Gooner. And I feel that WhyJay is quite aptly described here in the first paragraph.

Now, let me illustrate how shallow and short sighted those fans are who clamour blindly for endless trophies and nothing but 4-0 wins until they get dull. I wish to do this not by debating the merits of fans who live here or there, go to games or don’t – the plastic twit who brings his kids to the Emirates and sits behind me shouting shoot when the ball is in our half has a habit of complaining when we are “only” (!) wining 1-0 at the half – but by demonstrating that it is a historical fact that we should be prepared, nay expect, that some seasons will end without a trophy.
Peter Hill-Wood said about as much in his interview last week, we compete each year for the League and Champions League as our ambition, and far more teams finish disappointed than victorious in those competitions. Now, one might say that only four (three?) teams can win the Premiership each year, but that we are one of those is a cause to be happy and proud with our status, not discontented. It would take a terribly myopic perspective to attack the club or management for failure to win the Champions League, as we have never before managed it before, it can hardly be expected each year. In reality Arsenal’s record of consistency in Europe, and our standing on the continent as a vision of the games graces and virtues, surpasses anything we have known before.
So, to the figures: Arsenal have won a total of 13 league titles and 10 FA Cups, plus 2 League Cups and 2European trophies. Over the course of our history, 122 years, that averages out to a League title every 9 years and an FA Cup every 12 years. Even if we do away with the period before when Herbert Chapman came to the club in 1925 that averages out to a title twice every 13 years, 6 and a bit per pot with an FA Cup every 8 years. Clearly in comparison to these figures we should not consider the current trophy drought unexpected, let alone a disaster; football clubs face fierce competition and part of the sweetness of victory is the pain of defeat that it cleanses.
I would also like to draw another comparison, Arsene Wenger against all those who had his job before him. If Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are in a position where success is consistent and expected, as we have elevated ourselves into a bracket of European football above all but 3 other teams in England and competing every year with the top 8 on the continent – anything less is a disappointment now; it is only to his credit as that is something he created not inherited, but it cannot be said his job any easier than anyone else who had it previously. Arsene Wenger has had 10 years at Arsenal, winning 3 Leagues and 4 FA Cups, or every 3.33 and 2.5 years respectively. For all other managers, excluding Wenger’s time and the period before Chapman – which there is no reason to leave out, but I can and still make my case – those figures are 7.2 and 12. Put another way, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal sides have won the League over twice as frequently as their predecessors, the FA cup a staggering 5 times as frequently; of course winning a European Cup would make club history and elevate us into a rarefied elite.
What I hope this shows is that there will be more years we lose than win; none-the-less, we should remain loyal to the team, manager and board. I hope that when we acknowledge the nature of competition, we see that there is nothing that is worth stooping below the ideal of our own integrity to win; the only people who want to do this do not truly care for our club and our GLORY HUNTERS. From the pain of defeat comes the joy of victory, this is true for the team also. Look at the years between the first and second double, it took 3 years of hurt – that Giggs goal, the Leeds game, Galatasary, and the ridiculous Cup Final with the Scousers – for the Invincibles to be forged. Where those years without success, joy, memory, or worth? Of course not, relatively they were very successful with Cup Finals and League placing considered, they are just part of being a football fan. Real fans see that, cheap glory hunters do not; it is a disappointing but inevitable consequence of success that they are here, but please as a club, including very consciously the global fan-base that includes, let’s try and tell the difference and maintain our integrity in the face of their shallow cravenness.

BARNET 1-2 ARSENAL; SINGAPORE IN TOP 10?

In general, part of our first team trailed 1-0 at half time. Arsene made 11 substitutions and we scored 2 goals. Probably due to fatigue, I can't blame those who played before half time. The youngsters were very enthusiastic though. Especially Wilshere. And as a matter of fact, I think that no less then 8 of the players featured for Arsenal were English. That's right, English. Nasri has finnaly signed. Personally I feel that Arsenal has been lacking a Nasri type player for a long time, ever since the Pires days. Rosicky has been injured too much, Hleb can't score a goal for nuts and Eboue/Diaby just can't make the cut at side midfield. Of course they're great at rightback and centremidfield respectively.

To which Wenger says: We are delighted to be signing Samir Nasri. He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player. He has shown great potential with his performances for Marseille and the French national team over the past two seasons and he will add great quality to our squad. Great job.

Hleb has been the subject of a great photoshop masterpeice.

Barcelona are reportedly trying to sign Adebayor by offering Eto'o + 10m. I say, fuck you. Eto is old, and needs to take 1 month off his time for the ACN. His salary is also obviously way higher then Adebayor so that 10m might be gone in a matter of years.

Has anyone gone to Bottle Tree Park? The place where you can catch guppies using small nets for $10 (unlimited time) or fish for prawns at $29 for 2.5 hours? Made a trip there today, but there's this horrible yellowshirt guy who's like demento. Firstly he wears his muddy slippers into the pond where people catch their guppies. And then while a new stock of guppies are thrown into the pond, 2 kids (my brother and the horrible yellowshirt boy) were, luckily, standing at the point where the guppies were released. Then, both of them started swiping their nets in the water. The horrible yellowshirt guy used his left hand to grab my brother's net and his right to catch the fish, meaning that he catches the fish as my brother's net is out of the water as he grabbed it. Not fair play, huh?

But of course my brother isn't going to put up with that so he used force to get his net back.

HLEB GONE; CONGRATULATIONS TO RIDGIS;2O

Even though reports of Hleb moving has cooled down for a bit since June, the reports are back and now it seems that it is not just rumours. Hleb is moving to Barcelona.

Fuck it, but congratulations to Ridgis and 2O. Ridgis is a football team consisting of iSpark and Greenridge. Well I guess i'll fucking be part of this team if not for my hand injury. Beat Aphelion 7-0, not sure if this is anything worth celebrating though. Aphelion got thrashed all the same when playing the other teams. 2O, beat the freshman juniors 1O 4-2. I guess that's a decent result too. Nonetheless, congrats.

One more thing. Gilberto might be leaving for Panathanaikos. Of course there are pros and cons. Gilberto has always been a quality player, and for him to leave (for free) is just wrong. On the other hand, this could mean we're almost certain to sign another midfielder, if we are not certain to be signing one now. He'll enjoy the longer contract and the better weather though.

Ever since I had that hand infection, "Right Distal Radius Osteomylitis", I have had a lot of work to do. Since most of the people think that I have nothing to do all day long at home and I only play the computer, here is a list of stuff that I have done for my hand operation.

1) 4 Letters to teachers, even though he signs off as his letter, I was the one that wrote it. I translated it to Chinese as well.

2) 4 Letters to Uncles, my dad's friends. One page each. Font 12 Arial single spacing.

3) A 17-page diary for this saga. Took a long time, really. I'm supposed to have translated it to Chinese too. But I obviously protested against it.

4) A history of the anti-biotics that I took.

5) Think of ways to email 540MB x 4 CDs worth of MRI films to China.

6) An introduction to each of the above.

Not that easy, I have a lot of work to do.

Looks quite good. Same theme as the home kit, a main colour and another colour on the sleeves. Yellow shall be our lucky colour for 08/09. Thanks to the cannon there.

Walcott gets number 14. Hopefully we'll see more of him as a striker. Great speed with improved finishing. Great prospect.

DISCHARGED.

Even though Nasri announced on his personal website that he is heading for Arsenal, no official announcement has been made. Hmm, wonder what's delaying them.

New shirt numbers for the next season has been announced. Ramsey gets 16, Vela gets 12, Almunia gets 1, and Vito Mannone gets 24. 8 and 14 remains to be filled, I'd like Nasri to get 8 and hopefully someone like Villa to get 14, perhaps.

IS IT A CRIME?

Is snoring a crime? Didn;t think so. But well, there are a few out there who thinks that it is. And they are fucking me over the fact that I snore. Is it a fucking crime? Will I be jailed for fucking snoring?

Story: Not enough matresses in my brother's room; cousin staying over. They decided to move one matress from my room into his. The mattress was supposedly for me. But I don't get why me. While moving the matress, A breaks an antique vase worth $4000. Question. Is it my fault that he broke the vase? Is it my fault that someone decided to help me move a mattress over? Is it my fucking fault that i was using the computer at 10pm and thus is at my own room and not in my brother's room? I'd say no.

Person A lent my brother a CD long ago. He asked for it. He said the CD was expensive. I said the vase was $4000, the CD was less than $100. Guess what?

Not an update, really. Everything seems to have gone quiet for Nasri. Wonder what happened. Walcott will be serving National Service twice, for both the U-21s and the senior squad.

Call of Duty. First person gun game. Seems like the whole family is playing it (PS3). Cousins, siblings, and even uncles. Anyway, its this addiction from my baby brother. 7 years old, he wakes up at 7am every morning, and stands outside the door like a security guard. The door to the PS3, of course. He guards the door seemingly with his life. Like it was gold or something. Then we'll be unable to play. Once we step into the room, he cries. Even when he's having tuition, he'll suddenly run out of the tuition room into the PS3 room. And then start crying. So Darrel, there's someone in the same state as you.

Nasri is poised to sign before Euro08. Wenger stated that there is a "high chance of him arriving, and if he does, it will be before the Euros".

The great:
Eto'o and Claude Makelele both share the honour of the greatest news this week.

Eto'o has rejected a Spurs contract, stating that he would rather earn a move to Arsenal. He says that he prefers our style of play, and of course, the promise of Champions League football. TRANSFER RUMOURS;PREDICTIONS

Many news article linking players to Arsenal, as always.

I fully support Wenger's decision to keep Senderos' contract. A player of his mould will definately help the team's EPL cause. Wenger has also admitted (finally) that the Toure-Gallas partnership is not really working very well, so I'd think Toure and Gallas will be challenging for one place and Senderos/whoever we sign for the other. My preferable partnership would be Senderos with Toure. It worked so well that we got to the Champions League final the other time around. Why change it? Bring in Tony Adams to coach the defence and viola, a title-winning defence.

Aquilani is also linked with us. He's a decent player; I signed him for Newcastle in Fifa Manager. Would fit well with Fabregas, I think. Replacement for Flamini. The person who leaked the story is Vincezi Morabito. The fucking cunt of an agent who organised the ice-cream party with Hleb and Inter. However he's born and bred in Roma and him leaving somehow equates to Carragher leaving Pool, and I don't want to bet on that.

Nasri appears to have sealed a move for around $40million dollars. Well if he comes, Hleb goes. Simple replacement, like for like. Able to play in either wing or in the middle, with an apparent lack of goals as well. Well we do have a small squad compared to the other big four. Let's test Hleb's integrity then. Toure seems to have had enough and has demanded showdown talks with Arsene regarding his treatment toward Gallas. I suppose he has a point, with Toure performing arguably better in most aspects of the game.

POMPEY;CITY IN EUROPE

Portmouth clinched the FA Cup with a solitary Kanu goal. Not much of a competition, really. Portsmouth dominated for most parts of the game. Ramsey and Ledley showed great potential but nonetheles, inexperience. Let's hope this showing doesn't increase his price when he arrives at the Emirates. Portsmouth lifted only their 2nd cup after a 64-year wait, Redknapp bringing Pompey to Europe for the first time in their long history.

City is in Uefa Cup through the fair play league. Fulham had a shout after Dunne's red card, but City got it anyway. Anyway, City lost to Thailand Premier League All Stars 3-1 yesterday.

In transfer news, Louis Saha has admitted that he will consider leaving United. I think its the correct move; sitting on the bench at 29 years old isn't the best thing to do.

I also feel sorry for United. They are doomed in midfield for the next few years, as Carrick penned a new deal. United are, therefore, screwed.

I can't find a link but Ronaldo has thrown doubts to his United future by saying that he is happy at the moment, but doesn't know what would happen in the summer. Does Real Madrid and $600k a week appear in anyone's mind?

BLACK CATS BREAK 3-GOAL HOODOO

Mainly due to the title race and relegation issues, our game was not on the priority list, with it being shown on channel 24. Fantastic through pass from Gilberto and Walcott finished like a natural. However that finishing was not on display for the other parts of the match as Sunderland broke the 3-goal Arsenal jinx; for the past 4 games, Arsenal have put 3 goals or more past the Black Cats. Bendtner, as usual, couldn't hold up play as well as we would have liked. Special mention to Song and Fabianski, both of whom I think had a brilliant game. Song will develope to another Kolo, I believe.

So, the end of the season, on 83points. That's the tally of the unbeaten 03-04 season. You can't say that we were not up to expectation. July'07 and they were saying Spurs fourth and Arsenal fifth/sixth/seventh. People predicted Arsenal to fall out of the UCL and drop to the lower tiers of the UEFA Cup. How did we prove them wrong. There were many positive things about us this season, Fab finding his shooting boots, Adebayor emerging as a world-class striker, Flamini relishing his first team chances, Sagna and Clichy proving the best full-backs in the country and of course we can't leave out Theo's contribution as well.

Let's hope for more ins and less outs during this transfer season. Flamini has gone, Wenger has stated how he will do his utmost best to stop Hleb from leaving. I wonder if that includes doubling his wages, which are what Inter are doing right now. There are many top clubs in Europe that are more then willing to pay eighty grand per week for the likes of Adebayor, Fabregas, Clichy and maybe even van Persie. Arsene's got a busy 2 months ahead of him.

Rosicky is scheduled for an operation soon, confirming his absence from Euro2008. How he manages to get injured so often I have no idea. It's like he will be on the sidelines for the rest of his life.

Hmm, I wonder if Ferguson misplaced his timetable.

Although the official one credited James with the best goalkeeper award, I still feel that van der Sar was the best in the EPL. He made numerous saves; kept United in the EPL race, especially during the OT game with Arsenal. Almunia will reign soon, I hope.

DR: Sagna

My back four is based on two consistent, dependable full-backs in Clichy and Sagna, both of whom has not missed more than 10% of the games so far. Each have clocked up well over 2000 minutes on the field. Ferdinand's appearence is self-explanatory. Carlvanho is like an unsung hero, if you watch Chelsea's matches.

All self explanatory. Rooney's link up play is his reason.

Adebayor has also scored 30 goals, a feat managed only by Henry and Wright. Next.

IN RESPONSE TO DARREL

Don't know if the video will load, but anyway. Darrel claims we have no good englishman except for Theo Walcott, and the 2nd best is Henri Lansbury. Well, look at this kid with a fabulous right foot and a left foot that people will kill for. Meet Jack Wilshere.

The ENGLISHMAN that has been selected by the english FA to play one year above his age group for the last 3 years ( as a 15 year old he played for the U-16s, as a 16 year old he played for the U-17s) .

"But what about the U-18s? Did he suck so much until he got dropped or he got retained?" I hear Darrel ask.

Well, he's just 16. People hail him as the next Gasgoine, without those off field problems. He is so good, that Steve moved Lansbury out to right midfield just to accomodate him.

Jack might still be a schoolboy, but he has been the Fabregas equivalent for the Arsenal U18 team this year. With van Persie's technical abilities and powerful shots, Hleb's quick feet and Fabregas' excellent vision marry to Toure's strength (short in stature but stocky & strong with low centre of gravity) he has all of the requirements for world class midfielder. He already has 8 goals from midfield and numerous assist. Enjoy his masterpeice against West Ham. The youngest player on the pitch; Kid of the match.

40DEGREES; UNITED TO DRAW CHELSCUM

My fever went up to 40 degrees this morning. Haven't been to school for 3 days, probably missing friday too. That means I will fucking fail all the exams except for languages. I haven't been to a single geog class in term 2. History i have no idea what's going on and for lit, krison just powerpoint, powerpoint powerpoint. That's how my MSG can be around 8. Well, its not my fault that i cant attend school. Now i'm pushing for a cancellation or postponing of the exams. Hopefully it'll work.

Football. I predict United will draw Chelsea. 1-1. With any luck there will be 4 red cards on each side. Drogba, Cech, Essien, Terry to get sent off. On the devil's side, van der Sar, Kuszczak, Ferdinand, Rooney to go off. Well, carrick can stay on cause he's a peice fuck shit. So too ronaldo. Who can't score a 3rd minute penalty.

The referee will get unconscious, miss a massive 14 player fight and the remaining 7 players from each side will get fined and banned from football for life, since Carrick and Grant got killed by members of the opposing team.

A LETTER TO ALL ARSEFANS.

Dear ~~students~~ArseFans,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce to you that ~~Hwa Chong Institution~~ Arsenal F.C. is out of the ~~Arena~~ Champions League and Premier League. We fought hard, and gave RI Liverpool and Man United only a waferthin margin of victory, but in the final analysis, we have lost. Yet with our heads held high, unbowed in defeat, we proudly leave, knowing we too have conquered, and our consciences are clear.

In the words of the President from the movie Independence Day, paraphrasing Dylan Thomas, 'We will not go quietly into the night,
we will not vanish without a fight!'

And yes, we did not go quietly, we did not go without giving a fight, a hard one. We fought RIPool and United tooth and nail to the end, though we were weighed and found wanting by just that little bit.

To those who came to watch and support us in our moment of glory and defeat, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being there with us.

To those who could not come but sent your good wishes and support, they were felt to the heart by all of us. Our thanks, also. It was not easy to stand there ~~in that arena~~ on that pitch, before ~~spotlights~~ floodlights and cameras, but stand there you did, and gave of your best. And let none say that you have been found lacking.

I AM FOR VILLA

C'mon Arsene, let's get this Spaniard. Use the $60m from the $190m that Hill-Wood gave you, and sign this Forward. He's quick, clinical, strong and a goal poacher; just what we need. If there was ever an answer to van Persie's injury woes, this would be it. Of course Arsene would consider Bendtner's and Theo's future, but with Theo being just as good on the wing, van Persie being infected with the brittle bone disease and Adebayor needing some rest, I don't see why Villa wouldn't be welcome. With over 60 games a season, all our strikers will get their fair share of chances.

Move fast Arsene, Roman and his colony of bastards are lurking around the corner...

TANCW; DARREL'S UNDERSTOOD

Just one fucking plate. In exchange for 20 fucking CWO hours. How's that for a great deal, struck by none other then the legendary Demento, so famous that students SMSes his name around. Of course, I could have brought up my hand injury, but i figured that he wouldn't care anyway.

Demento recognised Jonas, and forced him to call the rest of us that didn't clear our plates. We missed the whole of assembly, which means i haven't attended an assembly since the gentlemen one. (which was conducted at least 2 months ago.)

Demento brought us to the Admin Office and screwed us all up. Of course he chose Brion first.

Let's relive the momentous occasion when 1/4 of our class got screwed alive.

Demento: NO ! APOLOGIES IS TOO LATE ! Apologies come later.

-A fantastic job as canteen warden, delighting all the boys in the canteen by forcing them to clear plates.
-A very lenient and acceptable demerit point of 2; the maximum is 1.
-A wonderful job as newspaper collecters within the school. We get to facinate people by picking up their newspapers, bringing it to the recycle corner before tying it up with raffia string. Isn;t that fun?
-Another lenient decision; we're getting a high conduct grade of C! What kind teachers do we have?

TOO DEJECTED.

18 shots on goal; 11 on target. What more must you do to win a game? Of course, it was on of the displays of the season, dominating most chunks of the game and forcing the likes of ManUnited and Liverpool to play on the counter attack. Obviously the decisions of the referees cost us, but I will admit its not entirely their fault. We have to shoulder some of the blames ourselves.

This season seems the opposite of the last.

During the yesterseason, critics slammed us for being too perfectionistic. We seemed to want to win a game without a shot; passing the ball into the net. This was easily countered by lesser opposition. Most of them were putting 10 players behind the ball, with one lone striker to hit us on the break. This season, we answered our critics in dazzling style, especially Adebayor being clinical in almost every game. However, the concept of yin-yang is brought up.

With our attacking players in sizzling form, our defenders seemed to have gone AWOL. For now, we're playing like the Sp*rs of old. 1st class attack, 1st class midfield, but 2nd class defence. It doesn't help when our captain throws a tantrum after you concede a penalty straight after you scored. Ah, what an irony. Gallas blasted our young defenders for being too naive when we gave Babel the penalty after Adebayor equalised. But who was it that gave it away at Old Trafford? Of course, there was an element of controversy, but as the saying goes, The referee's decision is final. Sure Adebayor might have used his arm, but can one say that we didn't deserve the lead?

Statistics show a lot of things. We scored 63 goals last season in the league, but this season, we have already scored 64 goals, drawing blanks in a meagre 2 matches. Having more than a 100 goals this season, I can't complain about our attacking threat.

How about our defence? Having the 2nd best attack in the league, one might expect better from our defence. But, as it is, we are lying in 5th spot, with the likes of Everton above us. We've conceded 29 goals in the league, and I would not like to count the cup competitions. We have this ability to concede goals out of nothing. Here's a typical commentary from the commentator:

"..and schwazer takes a long goal kick... Mido flicks it on.. OH AND SANLI IS THROUGH GOAL!!!"

Or

"Arsenal were simply fabulous. You'll run out of adjectives to describe their free-flowing moves. (Shows replays of the arsenal goal). Oh what's this at the other end? OH AND TORRES SCORES WITH A THUMPING HEADER."

Get the drift? With our defence, it wouldn;t be long before those 4-4 games pops up with arsenal being one of the teams involved.

Amidst all this, there are still positives to take from this season. Our players matured a lot; our attacking and finishing improve by miles; our fighting spirit was ever so strong. Of course there's still the point about us losing just 3 games this season. Of course it would have been 2 if we were better at OT.

Right. Let's move away from football now.

To the left is Pieter Vink who failed to give Arsenal a clear penalty at the Grove last week. To the right is Peter Frojdfeldt who gave Liverpool as generous a penalty as you’ll ever see at Anfield last night. Peters, why have you forsaken us?

Sometimes you need luck in a season and at crucial times we haven’t had any. You look at the penalty that wasn’t in the last minute of the Birmingham game, to me a decision which shattered us far more than the 4-0 capitulation at Old Trafford, and it’s difficult not to feel hard done by.
I know these things happen in football but that doesn’t really make it any easier, does it? The timing of the penalty last night was just sickening too. Literally seconds after the restart from our goal which had made it 2-2 on the night and given us the lead on away goals. Ryan Babel broke into the box, Kolo Toure was behind him, there was no push, Toure was obviously trying not to make contact, he did not foul Babel but the ref gave the penalty anyway.

After the decision that wasn’t given our way when Hleb was clearly pulled back by Kuyt last week it’s just horrible. Of course it would be wrong to blame the referees for our departure from Europe. As I said these things happen in football but I feel it would be wrong of me not to the highlight the fact that these two men are cunts. Supposedly top class referees getting big decisions completely and utterly wrong. It’s not just that which cost us but fuck me it played a great big part.

A TALE OF 2 PENS; 2 HORRIBLE REFS.

"It's difficult to say that we deserved victory because it would be unfair on Arsenal." That's what Gerrard gracefully said after his team luckily knocked us out the the Champs League in cruel, cruel, cruel fashion. There we were, dominating for many part of the game, having umpteen chances, having all the possesion.

We dominated the proceedings from the start, with Diaby scoring a fantastic goal. In the first 25 minutes or so, Torres, Crouch and Gerrard hardly got a sniff of the ball. However, a laspe of concentration by Senderos (due of lack of match fitness), allowed Hyppia to steal in front of him to level matters. Of course that knocked our confidence abit, and Liverpool attacked for the rest of the half.

It was a cagey 2nd half. Torres turned Senderos and smashed a shot into goal. However, we pressed forward and were rewarded when Walcott burst from our own penalty box, running the length of the field before laying it off for Adebayor to finish. It was a great minute. Before Babel excercised his diving rights against Toure.

As Gunnerblog pointed out:

Was it anywhere near as clear a foul as the one on Aleksandr Hleb in the first leg? Would we have been awarded a penalty at Anfield in identical circumstances? Would Liverpool have even got the penalty at the other end, without the baying Kop? The answer to all of those three is a resounding: ‘No’.

Again, its a bad decision form the ref that went against us. 2 genuine penalties not given at the Emirates; 1 dubious penalty given at Anfield. That's enough to knock us out.

Gerrard also admitted that it was a bad performance by Liverpool.

I still don't get how Arsenal remained trophyless this season.

IN THE DEFENCE OF ARSENAL

Point one: Injuries.
Wenger told the press that he would have spent in January if he knew about our forward troubles. Having 14 fit players for 3 weeks in January is just plain shit.

Point two: Wenger's blind faith in Bendtner.
No doubt he is a potentially good player, he still needs time to blossom into an Adebayor. Worthy to note that we won in every game he didn't play.

Point three: Leaky defence.
As it has been often pointed out, Toure and Gallas sit back, let the opponent get the balls to their feet before tackling them. Senderos offers a more direct approach; he does not sit back, going up to challenge opponents with aerial balls. Personally I would rather a Senderos-Toure partnership, but with Gallas being the captian, I think Toure has to be dropped. Again, worthy to note that our defence are the shortest in the premiership.

Point four: Lack of strength in depth.
Of course, Arsenal's 1st team are already so young. How about their reserves?

I went to school today. Even thought I had an MC. Great.

After passing my medical history to YinXP and asking her to pass it to Clarinda Choh, YinXP gave me this get-well card. LOL. With a message from each of the teachers. I know readers want to know what messages they are. It seems they were forced to do it or someone was bored.

For me. That's it. I didn;t expect it. I walked into her office, she made me sit down, talked a whole load of shit and then said it.

"I understand that you are very stressed with your hand injury... A lot of problems... My solution to this is for you to stop all project work..."

Wow. Not bad. Skip project's day. Besides that...

She also told me that all my teachers understand my situation. Meaning that when my hands starts to "ache" during homework/essay/assessment, I can stop doing it. Great. That's fantastic.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY DAD?

How does this sound?

D will be Dad and M will be Me. Of course i translated it to chinese; my dad sucks at english.

D: "Do you want to eat the apple?"
M: "No."
D: "Eat lah, it's good for you."

D: "Are you coming to buy groceries with us tomorrow morning (At 8am)"
M: "No."
D: "Go lah, you haven't been out of the house for a long time."

What does it take to get some freedom here? There are more examples, but I don't want to waste so much time ranting about it. Anyway, here's another point.

Since I'm injured, there are a few people who'd like to visit me. He said that he could provide all sorts of help. He offered to drive anyone that does not have transport to my house. I was like, what the fuck? I told him it was being unrealistic, and he flared up. What the fuck is going on?

Life sucks. Don't bother mentioning the 0-0 to me. I know that most of you out there are gleefully cheering about the draw. Our season's disspointing days are measured in draws, albeit one defeat. One major reason why we're stuttering is because of fatigue. To travel to Italy and play that sort of amazing match against the World Champions, it's a tough feat. Cesc and Flamini ran a total of 25km in that match; 12km and 13km respectively. 25km is about half of Singapore, and they completed the distance in 90 minutes, in an extremely high tempo game. So don't bother mentioning the 0-0 to me.
